Plus Two level Exam Details

The Prelims exam is the initial phase for the Kerala PSC Recruitment.

For all the 12th qualifying exams conducted by Kerala PSC, the preliminary exam must be passed (except CPO). The Kerala Public Service Commission conducts the 12th level exam for the recruitment of various posts such as Teachers, Civil Police Officers, Civil Excise Officers, Fireman/Firewoman, Beat Forest Officers, Typist, Town Planning Officers, Development Officers, Senior Storekeepers, Managers, Secretaries, Laboratory Assistants, Accountants etc.

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Candidates who have completed their Higher Secondary from a recognized Board or its equivalent are eligible to apply for the 12th Level Preliminary Exam.
  • Candidates must have attained the age of 18 years to be eligible for any Kerala PSC 12th-level post. The maximum age to apply for the post is 36 years. However, candidates belonging to the reserved category have been provided age relaxation – SC/ST: 5 Years, OBC: 3 Years

Exam Stages:

Prelims Exam

  • This is the initial stage of the examination, and it typically consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) designed to test a candidate’s basic knowledge and aptitude. The subjects covered includes general knowledge, current affairs, Simple Arithmetic and Mental Ability, General English, and Regional Language.
  • The Kerala PSC Prelims exam pattern is the same for all the 12th-level posts.
  • The exam will be of 100 marks consisting of 100 questions. The questions are objective type. The duration of the exam is 1 hour 15 mins. The medium of the exam is Malayalam and English languages.
  • The Preliminary Exam is conducted in different stages depending on the posts.
  • Several positions require a physical examination and other tests to be qualified. Those who clear all the stages will be selected for the applied post.

MAINS EXAM 

  • The second stage of the Kerala PSC recruitment procedure is the main exam. Candidates who qualify for mains will be called for face-to-face interviews.

INTERVIEW

  • After the main exams, the candidates must proceed to this phase.
  • The Kerala PSC 12th-level selection process ends with the interview phase. Only those who passed the main exam qualify for the interview.
  • Here, they will be evaluated through face-to-face personal interviews.
  • During the interview phase, the candidates are required to submit the documents to the exam recruitment board.
  • After the interview stage, the Kerala PSC will release the final allocation list. The candidates can check the final allotment list on the PSC or Kerala PSC Thulasi websites.

Physical Efficiency Test 

  • There will be a physical efficiency test for Uniform Posts like CPO/WCPO, CEO/WCEO, FIREMAN/FIREWOMAN, BEAT FOREST OFFICER, etc.
  • The physical efficiency test consists of 8 items, so the candidates must qualify at least 5.

Syllabus:

The syllabus for the 12th Level Preliminary exam generally covers topics such as:

  • Current Affairs  – 5 marks
  • General Knowledge – 35 Marks
  • Natural Science – 5 marks
  • Physical Science – 5 marks
  • Simple Arithmetic & Mental Ability – 20 marks
  • General English – 20 marks
  • Regional language – 10 marks

Selection Process:

Candidates who perform well in the Prelims exam are shortlisted for further selection processes, which will not include interview or document verification.

For CPO, the selection process will consist of main examination and physical efficiency test.

Preparation:

  • To prepare for the prelims and mains exam, candidates should study the relevant subjects, practice the previous year’s question papers, and stay updated with current affairs. Current affairs play a significant role in government job exams.
  • Solving the previous year’s question papers will give you an idea about the exam’s difficulty level and the type of questions asked. It will also help you to identify your weak areas.
  • You can also do mock tests to understand the exam pattern. Mock test and previous year questions are available in Neyyar App. You should get pass the overall cut-offs. So don’t skip any section of the syllabus. Give equal attention to each one of them and proceed accordingly.
