Selection Process

A common preliminary examination: As part of the new rules, PSC has introduced a two-tier examination system to all the 10th,12th and degree level posts. A preliminary examination is conducted for multiple posts which require the same educational qualification.

Main examination:  The cut off is decided by PSC based on the number of vacancies, level of the examination, number of candidates attending the exam and many other factors.  Candidates qualifying the prelims can write the main examination specific to each post.

Physical test: Candidates who clear the main exam are shortlisted for the physical test. A candidate has to qualify five out of 8 items in the physical test. A final rank list is made based on the marks in the main examination where the physical test is qualifying in nature. A separate rank list is generated for each district, and the cut-off may differ from district to district depending on the number of vacancies and other factors.
